Section 17.00 - Ticket and Ticket Operations

17.06.1 TICKETS - Sales

TICKETS:  SALES

The Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations coordinates the day-to-day sale of tickets to athletic events.  Any individual involved in the sale of tickets for athletic events at The University of Texas is expected to use extreme care in communicating with customers.  In the event that difficult situations arise, the employee should consult with a supervisor to solve the problem.  The Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations ensures that applicable University, Big 12 Conference and NCAA regulations are followed.

For additional Ticket Office information, see Tickets/Ticket Operations: Operations -Complimentary Admissions; Distribution; and Longhorn All-Sports Package in this section of this Policy Manual.

Ticket Prices

Price structures for tickets to athletic events are established by University Administration based on recommendations made by departmental staff and the Athletics Council.  Prior to submitting a suggested price structure change, surveys are conducted.  Proposed changes are based on a variety of factors, including ticket demand, facility seating, and strength of schedule and revenue needs.

Record of Sales and Deposit of Moneys

An accurate and complete accounting of tickets sold, credits issued and cash received is required to ensure the efficient operation of the Athletics Ticket Office.  Tickets and change are counted before and after sales by both the ticket seller(s) and the staff member preparing the inventory.

On-Site Supervision of Sellers and Support Staff

The Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations or designated representative is responsible for coordinating the distribution of tickets to the ticket sellers and for the distribution of "Will Call" tickets (home and visiting team) and "Seat Passes."  Extra change or extra tickets are provided to the sellers as necessary.   The Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations, or designated representative, is accessible at all times during ticket selling operations, for periodic communication with the sellers and key staff members.

All exchanges and refunds are at the discretion of the Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations.  Ticket sellers may not, without prior supervisor approval:

  • Make adjustments to their ticket inventories;
  • Reimburse or refund patrons for any tickets; or
  • Exchange or accept tickets from customers.

Will Call Operations

The Athletics Ticket Office is responsible for "Will Call" operations for both home and away games.  The envelopes should be in alphabetical order with designations on the envelopes indicating that admissions are “paid,” “complimentary” or that money is to be collected at the "Will Call" window.
